June “Air Meeting” with Irina Lobanova

Balloons may be traditionally associated with children but here at Gemar we know that they can be used for almost any occasion. Balloon art can capture the mood of any space, and creating an atmosphere is an essential skill for a balloon professional.

Irina Lobanova’s monthly Air Meetings are balloon art workshops that go beyond teaching the skills of creating sculptures – important as those are. Her students also explore the impact of things like setting, clothing, accessories and even makeup as they work to create the perfect mood.

In June 2021 they demonstrated this perfectly by creating two scenes that couldn’t have been more different. A quirky rainbow backdrop, inspired by a fidget toy, was full of fun and energy. It invited childish play and silliness, with all the laughter and giggles that brings with it. Nobody can look at these pictures without cracking a smile!

In contrast was a sophisticated backdrop using Shiny Purple balloons in a variety of sizes, and accompanied by a huge bouquet of beautiful Shiny Purple flowers. Styled with a sparkly dress, the effect would not have been out of place in any ballroom. A true demonstration of how versatile balloons can be.

As always, every student who attended the Air Meeting received a certificate to mark their hard work. They also took home a few goodies, including a bag of Gemar Balloons. Everything they need to keep lifting the moment!
